Solana Network Withstands Major DDoS Attack During Breakpoint 2025

  • Solana survived the fourth-largest-ever recorded DDoS attack while finalizing blocks during the Breakpoint 2025 event.
  • Attack happened during SOL’s second consecutive year at the top of global attention for blockchain networks in 2025.
  • Previous unplanned events included a 17-hour downtime in 2021, showing how much progress has been made regarding resilience.

Solana dominated blockchain attention in 2025, emerging as the most watched network for a second consecutive year. intensified during Breakpoint 2025, when the blockchain faced a massive distributed denial-of-service attack, but Solana performed flawlessly and garnered immediate attention from the global community.

As per recent post by CryptosRus, the incident ranked as the fourth-largest ever recorded. It happened when SOL held its premier event, leaving many to wonder about the possibility of momentum being disrupted. Outages and congestion were expected, but block finalizations happened as usual, along with transactions going through without any issues.

Network reliability has long shadowed Solana due to earlier congestion-driven outages, often cited by competitors. This incident seems to mark a shift in perspective for analysts who now state that the chain can handle extreme bursts of traffic and deal with spam problems more effectively.

Solana’s Past Network Outages

Solana has gone through times characterized by disruptions or shutdowns in its operations. In December 2020, SOL experienced a shutdown caused by a block propagation bug. It also went through a 17-hour shutdown in September 2021 because the network was overwhelmed by transaction volume driven by a Raydium AcceleRaytor IDO.

Solana’s network has faced multiple downtime incidents over the years. Firstly, it lost seven hours to bot spam transactions, then another four and a half hours due to a bug in the failure of the consensus algorithm.

Subsequently, in the year 2022, Solana experienced an outage of about 8.5 hours due to a bug in the function of the fork choice rules. There was only one major outage in 2023, which lasted almost 19 hours due to a fault in the deduplication logic, and another of about five hours in 2024 due to an infinite recompile loop bug.

Michael Saylor Pushes Digital Capital Narrative At Bitcoin Treasuries Unconference

Michael Saylor Pushes Digital Capital Narrative At Bitcoin Treasuries Unconference

The post Michael Saylor Pushes Digital Capital Narrative At Bitcoin Treasuries Unconference appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. The suitcoiners are in town.  From a low-key, circular podium in the middle of a lavish New York City event hall, Strategy executive chairman Michael Saylor took the mic and opened the Bitcoin Treasuries Unconference event. He joked awkwardly about the orange ties, dresses, caps and other merch to the (mostly male) audience of who’s-who in the bitcoin treasury company world.  Once he got onto the regular beat, it was much of the same: calm and relaxed, speaking freely and with confidence, his keynote was heavy on the metaphors and larger historical stories. Treasury companies are like Rockefeller’s Standard Oil in its early years, Michael Saylor said: We’ve just discovered crude oil and now we’re making sense of the myriad ways in which we can use it — the automobile revolution and jet fuel is still well ahead of us.  Established, trillion-dollar companies not using AI because of “security concerns” make them slow and stupid — just like companies and individuals rejecting digital assets now make them poor and weak.  “I’d like to think that we understood our business five years ago; we didn’t.”  We went from a defensive investment into bitcoin, Saylor said, to opportunistic, to strategic, and finally transformational; “only then did we realize that we were different.” Michael Saylor: You Come Into My Financial History House?! Jokes aside, Michael Saylor is very welcome to the warm waters of our financial past. He acquitted himself honorably by invoking the British Consol — though mispronouncing it, and misdating it to the 1780s; Pelham’s consolidation of debts happened in the 1750s and perpetual government debt existed well before then — and comparing it to the gold standard and the future of bitcoin. He’s right that Strategy’s STRC product in many ways imitates the consols; irredeemable, perpetual debt, issued at par, with…
