Key Takeaways

  • Anthropic stock is not public yet. Anthropic filed its public S-1 with the SEC on October 26, 2026, but no share can be sold until the SEC declares the registration effective and the IPO prices.
  • The ticker is ANT. Anthropic has applied to list its Class A common stock on the Nasdaq Global Select Market.
  • No IPO date is set. Under SEC rules the roadshow cannot start until at least 15 days after the public filing, so the earliest pricing window opens in mid-November 2026.
  • No share price is set either. The last company-confirmed valuation is $965 billion post-money from the May 2026 Series H round.
  • Public investors will hold Class A shares with one vote each, while a founders' share carries 50.1% of all votes and an independent trust picks a majority of the board.
  • Until the first trade, there are three ways to get exposure: wait for the listing, hold a public company that owns a stake, or trade the ANTHROPICUSDT pre-IPO contract on MEXC, which tracks price but conveys no ownership.

Search for "Anthropic stock" and you will find a ticker, a price chart, and a date on half the results page.

Only one of those three is real as of October 2026, and it only became real on October 26, when Anthropic's registration statement appeared on the SEC's public database.

This guide separates what the filing settled from what it left open, and then walks through the routes that exist until the first share changes hands.

Is Anthropic Stock Publicly Traded Right Now?

No. Anthropic is a private company that has filed to go public.

On October 26, 2026, Anthropic, PBC filed a registration statement on Form S-1 with the SEC for an initial public offering of Class A common stock.

Filing is not listing: the registration has not become effective, no shares have been priced, and nothing trades on any exchange yet.

The distinction matters because the filing itself says so.

Anthropic's October 26 announcement carries the standard legend that the registration statement "has not yet become effective," which means no share can be sold until the SEC declares it so, and it names no date.

What changed on October 26 is the quality of the information.

The confidential draft Anthropic submitted on June 1, 2026 was invisible to the public.

The public S-1 runs to hundreds of pages and discloses revenue, losses and cash through June 30, 2026, the share classes, and the exchange application.

Three things it does not disclose yet: how many shares will be sold, at what price, and on which day.

Those arrive in later amendments.

Who Actually Owns Anthropic Stock Today

Before the IPO, Anthropic's shares sit with its seven co-founders, its employees, and the investors in its preferred-stock rounds from Series A through Series H.

Amazon put $8.0 billion into Anthropic convertible notes between 2023 and 2025 and also holds nonvoting preferred stock; its second-quarter 2026 10-Q carried the notes at roughly $97.9 billion and the preferred at roughly $92.5 billion as of June 30, 2026.

The S-1 adds a structure its own risk factors call "novel."

A single share of Class F common stock, held by a company owned by the co-founders, "will be entitled to an aggregate number of votes that equals 50.1% of the total voting power."

A single share of Class T stock, held by the Long-Term Benefit Trust, elects the smallest number of directors that forms a board majority.

Public buyers get Class A shares, one vote each.

Amazon's notes convert into Class N shares, which carry no vote at all.

Anthropic also put 846,840,960 Class N shares, 5% of its fully diluted shares as of June 30, 2026, into a wholly owned Public Benefit Fund.

How those pieces fit together, round by round and class by class, is the subject of the valuation and ownership guide in this series.

When Is the Anthropic IPO Date?

There is no Anthropic IPO date.

The S-1 filed on October 26 leaves the offering size, price range, and timing blank.

What exists is a floor: the SEC requires a company that used the confidential review process to file publicly at least 15 days before its roadshow begins.

Counting from October 26, the earliest roadshow start is November 10, 2026, and pricing follows the roadshow.

Four steps still separate the filing from the first trade.

StepStatus on Oct 27, 2026Where it becomes visible
1. Public S-1 on EDGARDone, October 26, 2026SEC EDGAR, Anthropic newsroom
2. Amended S-1 with price range and share countNot filedA Form S-1/A on EDGAR
3. RoadshowCannot begin before November 10, 2026Usually reported, not filed; the final prospectus confirms the dates afterward
4. SEC effectiveness, pricing, first tradeNot scheduledA Form 424(b) final prospectus the morning after pricing; Nasdaq's new-listings calendar

The SEC's expanded draft-registration procedures set the 15-day minimum.

It is a minimum, not a schedule.

SpaceX publicly filed on May 20, 2026 and traded on June 12, about three weeks later; Anthropic's gap could be shorter or longer.

Watch for step 2.

The amended filing that adds a price range is the first document that tells you what a share might cost, and it typically lands within days of the roadshow start.

What Is the Anthropic Stock Symbol?

Anthropic's stock symbol will be ANT.

The S-1 states: "We have applied to list our Class A common stock on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the symbol 'ANT.'"

The application is not yet an approved listing, but the symbol is the company's own choice, published in its own filing, which no earlier guess could claim.

Treat every other string with suspicion.

Several guessed symbols circulated on prediction markets and in search results before the filing.

None of them was ever Anthropic's, and typing one into a brokerage app will return either nothing or an unrelated security.

Two cautions remain.

First, "applied" means Nasdaq's listing approval is still ahead, and the exchange confirms it at pricing.

Second, a symbol on a filing does not make the stock buyable; until the first trade, no broker can fill an order for ANT.

Where to Verify the Ticker Yourself

The authoritative sources are the S-1 and its amendments on SEC EDGAR, where the cover page names the exchange and symbol, and Anthropic's own newsroom, which has published a notice at each step so far.

The final prospectus filed the morning after pricing confirms the symbol for the first time as a listed security.

How Much Will Anthropic Stock Cost at IPO?

Nobody knows the Anthropic IPO price yet, including Anthropic.

The price range appears only in a later amendment, and the final price is set the evening before trading.

What the S-1 does fix is the scale of the share base: Anthropic completed a 10-for-1 forward split of its Class A and Class N shares on September 17, 2026, which pulls any per-share figure into a conventional range even though the post-offering share count is still blank.

The last price the company put its name to was a valuation, not a share price.

The Series H round announced on May 28, 2026 raised $65 billion at a $965 billion post-money valuation.

One rough translation is possible from the S-1's own numbers.

The Public Benefit Fund's 846,840,960 Class N shares equal 5% of fully diluted shares as of June 30, 2026, which implies roughly 16.9 billion fully diluted shares after the split.

Dividing $965 billion by that count gives about $57 per share at the Series H valuation.

That is arithmetic on two disclosed figures, not a forecast of the IPO price, which bankers set against demand on the roadshow.

Why the Anthropic Price You See Quoted Is Not a Share Price

Pre-IPO contracts on exchanges, including the ANTHROPICUSDT contract on MEXC, quote the company's expected valuation rather than a per-share price.

A contract quoting, say, 1,500 would be saying $1.5 trillion for the whole company, which is a different question from what one Class A share will cost on Day One.

Compare the contract to the $965 billion Series H mark, not to a share price that does not exist yet.

How to Buy Anthropic Stock: The Three Routes That Exist

Until ANT trades, you cannot buy Anthropic shares in a brokerage account.

Three routes give some form of exposure now: waiting for the listing and buying on Day One, holding a public company that owns a stake, or trading a pre-IPO futures contract.

Each gives you something different, and only the first gives you Anthropic stock.

The routes to Anthropic exposure before and after listing. Source: Anthropic, PBC Form S-1, filed October 26, 2026 (SEC EDGAR); Amazon Form 10-Q; Anthropic, "Unauthorized Anthropic stock sales and investment scams" (Claude Help Center).

Route 1: Wait for the Listing and Buy on Day One

This is the only route that ends with Class A shares in your name.

Once the IPO prices, ANT opens on Nasdaq and any broker with US equity access can fill an order at the market price.

Two realities apply.

Some US brokers run IPO-access programs that let customers request shares at the offering price before pricing; in a deal this size the allocations are small, not guaranteed, and closed to anyone who asks after the book closes, so most individuals buy in the open market after the first trade, often above the offer price.

And Day-One prices move: SpaceX priced at $135.00 on June 11, 2026 and closed its first session about 19% higher.

Route 2: Hold Public Companies That Own a Stake

Amazon is the one public company whose Anthropic position you can read in an SEC filing.

Its 10-Q for the quarter ended June 30, 2026 reports $8.0 billion invested in Anthropic convertible notes between Q3 2023 and Q4 2025, nonvoting preferred stock carried at about $92.5 billion, and an additional $5.0 billion Series H investment under a facility capped at $20.0 billion.

The exposure is real but diluted.

Those positions sit inside a company with a market value measured in trillions, so a 10% move in Anthropic's value moves Amazon's by a fraction of a percent.

Alphabet also holds a stake, which its own filings report only inside an aggregate line.

Route 3: Pre-IPO Perpetual Futures on MEXC

The ANTHROPICUSDT perpetual contract is a USDT-margined derivative that tracks a composite index of Anthropic's expected valuation.

It trades around the clock, offers leverage, and settles in USDT.

It conveys no shares, no votes, and no dividends.

What happens at listing is the part to read before opening a position.

MEXC converts pre-IPO contracts into standard stock futures automatically once the IPO completes, and open positions migrate without liquidation.

The full mechanics, including the funding-rate change and the Londian Wason (FOIL) precedent from August 2026, are in the guide to what changes when a pre-IPO contract becomes a standard contract.

A leveraged contract on a valuation index is a trading instrument, not a long-term holding.

Size it as a derivative.

The Route That Does Not Work: Unauthorized Private-Share Offers

Anthropic's investor warning page states that transfers of its stock that the board has not approved are void and will not be recognized on its books.

That covers the SPVs, "tokenized shares," and forward contracts that fill the search results for "buy Anthropic stock."

The S-1 reinforces the point: shares held by pre-IPO investors are subject to transfer restrictions and lock-up agreements, and nothing in the filing creates a route for the public to buy before the first trade.

If an offer promises Anthropic shares today, the shares are either not Anthropic's or not transferable.

What Should You Check in the S-1 Before Day One?

Three sections of the filing decide whether ANT suits you, and all three are already public.

The financial statements show six-month 2026 revenue of $16.3 billion against a net loss of $80.7 billion, most of it a non-cash accounting charge on convertible notes.

The capital structure gives public holders one vote per share under a founders' share with 50.1% of the vote.

And the risk factors list the board majority held by the Long-Term Benefit Trust as a feature that limits Class A influence.

Each of those is a full article in this series.

The profitability guide explains why the $80.7 billion loss and a 10% adjusted operating margin can both be true.

The guide to every funding round and who owns what walks through the ownership structure.

FAQ

No. Anthropic filed its public S-1 on October 26, 2026, and its Class A shares will trade on Nasdaq as ANT only after the SEC declares the registration effective and the IPO prices.

Does Anthropic have a stock?

Anthropic has private stock held by founders, employees and investors, and it has applied to list Class A common stock, but no share is available to the public yet.

What is the Anthropic stock symbol?

ANT, on the Nasdaq Global Select Market, according to Anthropic's S-1.

When is the Anthropic IPO?

No date is set; the roadshow cannot begin before November 10, 2026 under the SEC's 15-day rule, and pricing follows the roadshow.

Does the S-1 say how many shares Anthropic will sell?

No; the share count, the underwriters' option and the price range are blank and will appear in an amended S-1.

How much is Anthropic stock?

There is no share price yet; the last confirmed valuation was $965 billion in May 2026, and the IPO price range will appear in an amended S-1.

Is Claude stock the same as Anthropic stock?

There is no "Claude stock"; Claude is Anthropic's product, and the listed security will be Anthropic Class A common stock under the symbol ANT.

How can I invest in Anthropic before the IPO?

You can hold Amazon, which reports its Anthropic stake in SEC filings, or trade the ANTHROPICUSDT pre-IPO contract on MEXC, which tracks the expected valuation without giving you shares.

Will Anthropic list on Nasdaq or the NYSE?

Nasdaq; the S-1 says Anthropic has applied to list on the Nasdaq Global Select Market.

Can I get Anthropic shares at the IPO price?

Only through a broker's IPO-access program, if it offers one for this deal, and allocations in offerings this large are small and not guaranteed; the first open-market trade is where most people buy.

Conclusion

The question in the title has a dated answer: not yet, but the paperwork is public.

Since October 26, 2026, the ticker, the exchange, the filed financials and the voting structure are facts you can read on EDGAR rather than rumors to weigh.

What remains is the price and the day, and both will appear in amendments to the same filing.

Until then, exposure means Amazon's diluted stake or a pre-IPO derivative, and the ANTHROPICUSDT contract on MEXC converts into standard stock futures when ANT begins trading.
