PANews reported on December 16th, citing CoinDesk, that the FCA's "Cryptoassets Consumer Research 2025" shows that the number of cryptocurrency holders in the UK has decreased from approximately 7 million to approximately 4.5 million, representing a drop from 12% to 8% of the adult population, but the average holding per person has risen to approximately $2,500. About 21% of respondents held between £1,001 and £5,000. Cryptocurrency awareness remained at 91%. Assets are concentrated in Bitcoin and Ethereum, held by approximately 70% and 35% of investors respectively. The FCA has simultaneously launched a consultation on new regulatory rules for cryptocurrency under a new framework. According to data from the Financial Times in October, UK residents held approximately $17.3 billion in cryptocurrency.
