Little Pepe (LILPEPE) This one is the wild card and the most compelling. The token is currently in its presale stage (Stage 13) for $0.0022. Early investors from Stage 1 are already up roughly 120% from their initial purchases. For those entering now, before the listing price at $0.0030, there’s an estimated 36.36% upside potential. The project has raised over $27 million to date.  What sets it apart: it’s a meme‑coin with actual infrastructure, built as a Layer 2 EVM chain, zero transaction tax, ultra‑low fees, and the community is loud. It reached #100 on ChatGPT’s memecoin discussion trends from June to August  2025, ahead of legacy names like Dogecoin and Shiba Inu. The team is running a $777k giveaway and a Mega Giveaway (top presale buyers from Stage 12‑17 get over 15 ETH in prizes).    It’s listed on CoinMarketCap and audited by CertiK. For a $500 play, if you went all‑in on LILPEPE at $0.0022, you’d buy 227,272 tokens. If the listing happens at $0.0030, you’d be looking at $682. And if the ecosystem takes off, you could aim for much more. That’s why it’s first on this list. Tron (TRX)  A seasoned network with real utility behind it. With cross-border payments heating up and dApps gaining traction, TRX offers a safer, less speculative investment option compared to meme coins. If you split your $500 and dedicate maybe $100‑$150 here, you’re playing for moderate upside, less risk. Top 5 Cryptos with the Highest ROI Potential to Grow a Small $500 Portfolio in 2025

If you’ve got about $500 to invest and you’re hunting for upside in 2025, here’s a breakdown of five cryptos worth considering, full of real‑world flavour, recent events, and a standout pick you won’t want to ignore.

Little Pepe (LILPEPE)

This one is the wild card and the most compelling.

Tron (TRX)

A seasoned network with real utility behind it. Analysts have deemed it one of the “top cryptos with the potential to explode in 2025”. With cross-border payments heating up and dApps gaining traction, TRX offers a safer, less speculative investment option compared to meme coins. If you split your $500 and dedicate maybe $100‑$150 here, you’re playing for moderate upside, less risk.

Hedera Hashgraph (HBAR)

More under‑the‑radar than some, but with an interesting setup for 2025. Forecasts suggest HBAR could trade around $0.20‑0.21 with 20‑35% upside from current levels. If you’re comfortable taking a smaller ($50- $100) portion of your $500 and investing it in something less flashy but with upside potential, HBAR is a good fit.

Stellar Lumens (XLM)

Recognised for its role in payments, cross‑border transfers and real‑world use. The predictions for 2025 suggest it could reach between $0.30‑$0.35, which means its current price of $0.27 means 10‑30% upside. For someone seeking slightly more stability and project backing, XLM is a decent choice.

Cronos (CRO)

This one is interesting due to recent real-world developments, but the price-prediction outlook for 2025 is quite conservative; forecasts range from $0.12 to $0.14, suggesting only modest upside. If you allocate, say, $50-$100 here, you’re making a speculative bet on partnerships and ecosystem growth rather than a bet on explosive upside.

Why LILPEPE deserves a closer look (and sooner rather than later)

Given that its presale Stage 13 is 96% filled, with $27 million raised, tokens sold at $0.0022, and a listing projected at $0.0030, now is a window of opportunity. Because meme culture, especially with online discussions and trends, is proving to be a powerful driver. When a coin surpassed DOGE and SHIB in online volume and discussion (June–August 2025), it speaks to the power of community momentum. If you believe in that momentum, then getting in before the presale sells out might make sense. If you’re looking to grow a modest $500 portfolio in 2025, combining one aggressive bet (LILPEPE) with a handful of altcoins with real utility gives you a balanced approach.

U.S. Senate panel to hold crypto tax policy hearing on October 1

U.S. Senate panel to hold crypto tax policy hearing on October 1

The Senate Banking Committee will hold a public hearing on October 1 to go after one of the most confusing messes in U.S. finance right now:- how crypto gets taxed. The committee confirmed the date in a notice first reported by Eleanor Terrett, and witnesses lined up include Jason Somensatto, Policy Director at Coin Center; Andrea S. Kramer, founding member of ASKramer Law; Lawrence Zlatkin, Vice President of Taxation at Coinbase; and Annette Nellen, Chair of the Digital Asset Taxation Working Group under the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. This hearing is meant to address a problem that’s pissed off crypto users for years, which is why every small crypto transaction, even a few dollars, triggers a tax headache. The Senate is being pushed to finally look at de minimis exemptions, which would let people use crypto for daily stuff (like grabbing a coffee) without reporting every damn thing to the IRS. Trump administration backs small crypto tax relief Cryptopolitan reported back in July that White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt had said that the Trump administration still wants to push through the de minimis exemption in upcoming laws. “The president did signal his support for de minimis exemption for crypto and the administration continues to be in support of that,” Karoline said. She explained that right now, using crypto for basic purchases is too complicated because of tax rules, but a change could make everyday payments smoother. “We are definitely receptive to it to make crypto payments easier and more efficient for those who seek to use crypto as simple as buying a cup of coffee — of course, right now, that cannot happen, but with the de minimis exemption perhaps it could in the future.” Karoline also revealed that President Trump plans to host a signing ceremony for the GENIUS Act, a stablecoin-focused bill expected to pass soon. That bill is part of his administration’s broader goal to make the U.S. “the crypto capital of the world.” The Senate has already tried and failed to deal with this issue before. In 2020, two Democratic lawmakers proposed the Virtual Currency Tax Fairness Act, which aimed to ignore tax on crypto gains below $200. It didn’t even make it to a vote. A similar version in 2022 also died on the floor. Then came a broader bill in 2025 called the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which covered everything from taxes to border control. Senator Cynthia Lummis, a Republican from Wyoming, tried to get a crypto exemption added in for gains under $300, but that proposal got scrapped before the final bill passed. President Trump signed it into law on July 4 without the crypto language attached. Right now, the IRS says every single crypto transaction must be reported, even if there’s no gain or the amount is tiny. If you spend $5 of bitcoin, that’s a taxable event. The idea behind the de minimis exemption is to cut through that nonsense and give users room to breathe. But it hasn’t been easy. Lawmakers face real obstacles. First, the federal government depends on tax income. If it suddenly lets millions of small crypto transactions go untaxed, that means less money coming in. And there’s no sign yet of how they’ll offset that shortfall. Even with strong voices like Cynthia and Jason in the room, the Senate still hasn’t landed on a solution. October 1 might give them a chance to do something useful. Or it might be another meeting where everyone talks and nothing happens. Get seen where it counts.
