A Fox News host faced backlash after he said it was "remarkable" that President Donald Trump could walk during a G7 event in France.

John Roberts, co-anchor of "America Reports" on Fox News, remarked live Monday as Trump arrived at the Group of Seven summit in Évian-les-Bains — hours after footage circulated of the president apparently nodding off cage-side at his own White House UFC event.

Fox News mocked as host heaps praise on Trump for walking: 'Graded on a curve?'

"The fact that he could even walk, Peter, given all he's been through in the last twenty-four hours, I think, really is quite remarkable," Roberts told Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy during live coverage of the summit's opening arrivals. "He's gotta be beyond exhausted."

Video from the night before had circulated widely, showing Trump with his eyes closed and his head leaning during the main event of UFC Freedom 250 — his own 80th birthday celebration on the White House South Lawn. The Mirror reported that Trump appeared to rouse when music began playing, purportedly asking those nearby, "What just happened?"

Trump had drawn similar scrutiny the week before for apparently nodding off during Game 3 of the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a New York Democrat, posted on X, "WAKE TF UP," in response to the footage, while detractors had taken to calling Trump the "Commander-in-Sleep."

"Why are old Republicans always graded on a curve?" wrote Mehta on X, quote-posting the Roberts clip.

"The emperor has clothes! He has so many clothes! I promise he's clothed!" Cocchiarella added on X, riffing on the fairy tale.

Trump had hosted the UFC event Sunday night, sitting cage-side between first lady Melania Trump and UFC CEO Dana White, before boarding Air Force One for an overnight flight to France.

Both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had phoned Trump on his birthday, with the conflicts in Ukraine and Iran expected to dominate the summit.

The G7 runs through Wednesday.

Experts were raising questions about President Donald Trump's health after photo and video footage showed the now octogenarian traveling between back-to-back events across the ocean.

Trump went from Sunday night's UFC Freedom 250 event at the White House to France for the G7 Summit to discuss the next steps in the deal with Iran to stop the military conflict and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

Political commentators reacted to the president's appearance in Évian-les-Bains, France, with French President Emmanuel Macron.

"The WH is trying to project Trump as the president who never stops working, going right from the UFC thing to Paris and nailing down the Iran agreement when others were sleeping. In reality, he looks and sounds totally spent. How much longer can they keep the plates spinning?" Conspiracy expert and author Mike Rothschild wrote on X.

"Trump does not look like a man that’s in full control of his faculties," entrepreneur and technologist Gissur Simonarson, co-founder of Cloud Sherpa, wrote on X.

"Trump looks like death warmed over," journalist Aaron Rupar wrote on X.

"Trump, now 80 years old, is looking banged up after his big night at the fights and a flight to Europe," Rupar wrote in a separate X post.

"The blank eyes. A portal to hell," political commentator Bill Johnson wrote on X.

The Trump administration has opened a criminal probe into California Gov. Gavin Newsom and his wife, the governor announced on Monday.

According to The New York Times, a source close to the probe "said there were multiple federal investigations underway related to the governor, including one looking at his wife’s finances," and that federal law enforcement officials in California, rather than Trump appointees in D.C., opened the investigation "based on government witnesses offering information there."

Newsom's office has said that "several people" linked to their family were contacted by federal agents, and they also believe "the agents have ... subpoenaed banking records, but said they had seen no written evidence of that."

In a video statement released on Monday, Newsom, who has become notorious for his social media postings mocking the president, attacked the probe as a politically motivated fishing expedition to try to gin up charges against a political rival, noting that he has often been floated as a presidential contender for 2028.

"Donald Trump isn’t just coming after me because of my mean Tweets," said Newsom. "He’s coming after me because I am considering running for President. Because he hates that I’ve consistently called him out – over and over again – for his lies and deceit. Donald Trump is simply the most corrupt President in American history."

Newsom also listed several more cases in which the Trump administration launched various controversial investigations into various people perceived as rivals or figures who wronged him.

"His personal attorney [Todd Blanche] now runs the Department of Justice, which has repeatedly gone after his political enemies," Newsom said. "Ask Jerome Powell. He sent them after James Comey. Tish James. Adam Schiff. He sent them after Tim Walz. And a woman that a jury found Donald Trump had sexually abused."

"One by one, anyone who has challenged Donald Trump has ended up on his hit list," he added. "And today, I proudly join that list."

Yet another of President Donald Trump's plans to transform Washington, D.C., in his own image has been hit with a lawsuit by preservation groups — this time over his plans to transform West Potomac Park, an area that includes several memorials, including the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial.

Trump has plans to create what he calls a "National Garden of American Heroes" on the site, which has raised alarms about whether his renovations will respect the current memorials at the site.

According to Meidas Touch's Scott MacFarlane, the lawsuit cites the cost overruns of Trump's other recent projects, like the White House ballroom and the cleaning and repainting of the Reflecting Pool, which has already seen a resurgence of algae. The plaintiffs also argue that the changes would reduce the recreational use of the park.

Above all, the suit argues, the project was illegal without consent from Congress, noting that Interior Secretary Doug Burgum's "announcement of West Potomac Park as the site of the garden complex was definitive and not conditioned on congressional approval."

The suit further cites as proof of urgency for court action the recent comments by Trump administration legal counsel that the government could bulldoze the Statue of Liberty and there would be nothing courts could do about it as long as they did it so quickly it was too late to enjoin the work.

Trump, for his part, has championed the new garden as a "magnificent exhibition," saying of the park on social media, "Right now, it is a totally BARREN field of Prime Waterfront Real Estate along our Mighty Potomac River."

All of this comes days after the Trump administration was forced by court order to take the president's name off the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
