Bitcoin rallied sharply on Monday as President Donald Trump announced that a peace deal with Iran is complete, triggering a risk-on sentiment across global markets and easing months of geopolitical uncertainty in the Middle East.
In a Truth Social post, Trump stated: “The Deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete. Congratulations to all! I hereby fully authorize the toll free opening of the Strait of Hormuz, and, simultaneously herewith, authorize the immediate removal of the United States Naval blockade. Ships of the World, start your engines. Let the oil flow!”
The announcement, reported across major outlets including Bitcoin.com News, sent BTC climbing above $65,000 from recent levels around $64,000, with ether and other major assets also posting gains. The move reflects Bitcoin’s established sensitivity to macro risk events, having previously pulled back on escalations and recovered on de-escalation news.
The Strait of Hormuz, a critical chokepoint carrying 20-25% of global seaborne oil trade, had faced severe disruptions since the conflict intensified earlier in 2026. Iran’s actions, including mining and restrictions, had driven insurance costs higher and reduced tanker traffic. The deal paves the way for unrestricted shipping and the lifting of the US naval blockade imposed in April.
Oil markets reacted swiftly. According to reports, West Texas Intermediate crude settled near $84.88 per barrel, down roughly 3.2%, while Brent crude dropped 3.4% to around $87.33. Lower energy prices are expected to ease inflationary pressures, potentially supporting risk assets including cryptocurrencies.
Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister and Pakistani mediators, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, confirmed progress toward the agreement, with a formal signing set for June 19 in Switzerland. The framework includes commitments on nuclear non-proliferation and further technical talks during a ceasefire period.
Analysts note that while the deal removes a key overhang, implementation risks remain, including compliance with demining and uranium handling. Any setbacks could prompt renewed volatility. Nevertheless, the positive macro shift provides breathing room for Bitcoin, which has shown resilience amid broader market recovery signals.
Bitcoin’s price action throughout the crisis underscores its correlation with global risk sentiment, positioning it as a potential beneficiary of stabilized energy markets and reduced uncertainty.
