Key Highlights

  • NEAR surged approximately 20% within a 24-hour window, reaching highs of $2.75 while most cryptocurrencies declined
  • The asset rebounded 225% from a critical support range of $0.90–$1.10, a level that previously preceded significant rallies in 2021 and 2024
  • Key resistance targets lie between $3.40 and $3.77, corresponding to the 200-week EMA and the 0.382 Fibonacci level
  • NEAR Intents has facilitated $19.69 billion in transaction volume and accumulated $32.64 million in fees
  • An upcoming June protocol upgrade will implement dynamic resharding to enhance network scalability

NEAR has emerged as a standout performer in recent crypto market activity, climbing sharply while most digital assets face downward pressure. The native token of the Near Protocol network, known for its artificial intelligence and privacy-focused infrastructure, touched $2.75 on Tuesday — marking an impressive near-20% gain over a single day. In contrast, the overall cryptocurrency market capitalization dropped by 3.7% during the same timeframe.

This upward movement extends a powerful 225% recovery from a multi-year support corridor spanning $0.90 to $1.10, where NEAR established a bottom in February.

Historically, this identical support region served as the launchpad for two substantial bull runs: a remarkable 2,375% surge during 2021 and a 900% advance in 2024. While the current movement is more modest in magnitude, the structural setup mirrors those earlier patterns, according to technical analysts.

Open Interest in NEAR futures contracts jumped 11.6% within a single trading session, indicating that market participants were actively building long positions. The funding rate had elevated during intense buying pressure on May 31 but normalized by June 2, which market observers interpret as evidence of sustainable momentum rather than speculative excess.

Technical Levels and Resistance Zones

The primary upside objective sits within the $3.40–$3.77 corridor. This zone coincides with NEAR’s 200-week exponential moving average and the 0.382 Fibonacci retracement level, implying potential gains of 25%–40% from present price levels.

Before reaching that objective, NEAR must navigate a supply concentration between $2.80 and $3.00. This region has been identified as a zone where selling pressure could emerge, based on longer-term price action. The weekly swing peak rests at $3.34.

On the bearish side, a break below $2.01 would indicate a structural shift toward negative momentum on the four-hour timeframe. A retracement toward the 50-week EMA near $2 remains plausible if resistance levels prove formidable.

Cryptocurrency analyst Michaël van de Poppe shared his perspective on NEAR’s technical formation via social media. He observed that NEAR had successfully broken through resistance and was maintaining elevation despite Bitcoin’s weakness. He highlighted that the token had established a higher high and was converting a critical zone into support. He mentioned taking a reduced position size given Bitcoin’s uncertain condition, but suggested that if Bitcoin avoids further decline, NEAR could advance to fresh highs and potentially reach $3 or higher in the short term.

The weekly Relative Strength Index currently registers near 68. A climb above 70 would place NEAR in overbought conditions, which has historically preceded periods of consolidation or temporary retracements.

Network Developments and June Protocol Enhancement

From a fundamental perspective, NEAR Intents — a cross-chain transaction infrastructure enabling users to transfer assets between blockchains without traditional bridge mechanisms — has processed $19.69 billion in aggregate volume and produced $32.64 million in fees, based on DefiLlama data.

A significant network upgrade scheduled for June will introduce dynamic resharding capabilities. This functionality will automatically expand network capacity in response to increased demand, eliminating the need for developers to manually manage infrastructure scaling.

BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes has publicly stated his expectation that NEAR could deliver a 20x return over an extended investment horizon.
