Trump-friendly journalist in talks for White House role: report

A right-wing journalist apparently favored by President Donald Trump revealed he was under consideration for a "special government employee" position with the White House, according to a report from The New York Times on Friday.

John Solomon, who reported on the federal investigation into potential connections between Trump's campaign and Russia in the 2016 election and questioned the intelligence community, confirmed he was in talks to join the Trump administration. He created the website Just the News in 2020, where he has worked as editor-in-chief.

"I am currently being vetted for a short-term S.G.E. job, and it’s an honor to be considered," Solomon told The Times.

Solomon did not disclose further information about the possible role.

"But a person briefed on the position said he would most likely be tasked with leading a task force on 'transparency,' in which he and others would identify documents they believe should be made public," The Times reported.
