  • Weak weekend liquidity intensified Bitcoin’s price volatility.
  • Analysts see mixed BTC price predictions amid shifting sentiment.

Bitcoin is once again in a volatile phase amid the broader crypto market slowdown. Amid this uncertainty, experts and analysts are providing mixed Bitcoin price prediction patterns.

A huge wave of liquidations reportedly drives the latest BTC price volatility. More than $100 million in leveraged longs were liquidated, adding uncertainty to short-term Bitcoin price predictions.

Bitcoin Price Prediction: How BTC Reacts to Major Liquidation Event?

In an X post earlier today, CryptoQuant shared a detailed view on the current volatility in the BTC price. According to the post, the recent sharp fall in the BTC crypto price is driven by a huge liquidation event.

CryptoQuant analyst XWIN Japan noted that the price decline in late April 2026 is more likely to be driven by liquidity than by a fundamental shift in demand. The analyst stated that spot buyers or sellers do not drive the volatility. Instead, it is caused by forced liquidations of heavily leveraged long positions.

In detail, more than $100 million in leveraged bets were wiped out across major platforms. Within an hour, the BTC crypto price slipped from $78,000 to below $77,000. This sudden crash has made the short-term Bitcoin price prediction rather difficult.

As of press time, the BTC price was trading at $76,583, down 1.66% in a day. Despite a 0.26% weekly decline, the coin is up about 16% over the past month. This indicates that while Bitcoin is facing short-term selling pressure and volatility, the broader trend still shows underlying strength. The monthly gain highlights that overall momentum has not completely faded.

What Led to Bitcoin Liquidation?

It is worth noting that the key reason behind this $100 million liquidation is the weak weekend market structure. During weekends, trading activity from institutions and major liquidity providers is usually lower. This leads to thinner order books. It means that even moderate sell pressure can cause bigger price swings than usual. The post read,

“Weekend market structure played a key role. With reduced participation from institutions and liquidity providers, order books become thin, making prices more sensitive to market orders.”

The post further explained how this led to the liquidation event. As noted by the analyst, traders borrow funds to amplify their positions in leveraged trading. However, once the price starts going against them and reaches margin levels, they are automatically closed by the exchange.

Such forced-sale orders create additional downward pressure on prices. This might trigger a chain reaction in which more positions are liquidated one after another, resulting in a “cascade effect.”

Bitcoin Price Prediction: What’s Next?

While the current volatility has sparked caution, experts are sharing Bitcoin price predictions. For example, crypto analyst Ali Martinez shared his Bitcoin price prediction using the Percentage Realized Cap. It tracks how many Bitcoins are held by recent buyers. Thus, it could help show whether short-term traders or long-term holders dominate the market.

The analyst noted that the metric has currently dropped below 7%. This is a level that is historically very low. Thus, it suggests that retail interest has cooled off significantly, and the market has become relatively quiet.

In previous cycles, such low readings have often appeared near market bottoms. This indicates that selling pressure is fading, and stronger long-term investors are holding most of the supply.

According to this Bitcoin price prediction, BTC doesn’t guarantee an immediate hike. Instead, the metric suggests that downside pressure may be getting exhausted. The market could be transitioning into a calmer or recovery phase if demand returns.
