A card payment is not one event, it is two, and almost every "where is my money" question comes from the gap in between.
Maybe a charge is still pending, a promised refund has not landed, the amount taken does not match the checkout screen, or a charge appeared that you do not recognise.
The MEXC Global Card is MEXC's second Visa card, launched on August 31, 2026.
It sits alongside the original MEXC Card, which remains available in selected Asia-Pacific markets, and the MEXC × ether.fi co-branded card.
This guide covers the Global Card, and if you want the product overview rather than the troubleshooting, start with the full MEXC Global Card guide.

Key Takeaways
  • Every MEXC Card payment runs through two stages, authorization and settlement, and settlement usually takes 1–3 business days, stretching to 30 days in exceptional cases.
  • If an authorization fails, is reversed by the merchant, or expires, the held amount returns to your available balance automatically, usually within 1–3 business days.
  • Refunds generally arrive within 1–7 days, and e-commerce, airline, hotel and travel-related refunds can take up to 30 days.
  • A refund issued before settlement costs nothing, and as of September 2026 the MEXC Global Card applies no refund fee after settlement either.
  • Refunded, reversed and disputed transactions are removed from your monthly cashback total, and any cashback already paid on them is deducted.
  • Dispute windows run to 90 days for duplicate charges and 120 days for suspected fraud or goods not received, inside a general 60–120 day limit.

Authorization vs Settlement: The Two Stages Every MEXC Card Payment Goes Through

When you tap your phone or enter your card details, the payment enters authorization first.
The issuer confirms that your balance covers the amount and places a hold on it, but the money has not reached the merchant.
Settlement is the second stage, where the merchant submits the transaction through its acquiring institution and the card network, the status changes from authorized to settled, and the held funds actually move across.
Only then is the payment complete.
MEXC sets out both stages in its MEXC Card transaction FAQ, the source for the timings in this guide.
Settlement usually takes 1–3 business days, depending on how quickly the merchant, the acquiring institution and the card network process it, and in exceptional cases it can take up to 30 days.
You can see where any payment sits under Transaction History on the My MEXC Card page, which is also where past top-ups appear.

Pending Charges: When Held Funds Come Back

A pending charge that never clears is usually an authorization that died, not money that vanished.
Three things end an authorization without a settlement: it fails, the merchant reverses it, or it expires.
In all three cases the held amount is released back to your available balance automatically, and no manual action is required from you.
That release usually lands within 1–3 business days.
A record still marked as authorized is a hold, not a completed payment, so the money is earmarked rather than spent.
If a hold is still there well past three business days, that is the point to contact MEXC Customer Service.

Why the Final Amount Differs From What You Saw at Checkout

MEXC publishes three reasons the settled amount can differ from the number on the checkout screen.
  • Foreign-currency purchases are calculated at the settlement exchange rate, which can differ from the estimated rate used at authorization.
  • Cross-border or foreign exchange fees may apply.
  • The merchant may adjust the final amount at settlement, for example by adding a service charge or a tip.
The figure you see at authorization is an estimate provided for reference only, while the amount that actually leaves your card balance uses the real rate at settlement.
When those two rates differ, an additional transaction record may be created for the difference alone, which is why a single purchase sometimes appears as two lines.
MEXC has said it plans to address this display gradually in future updates.
On the Global Card the fee side of that math is short: a 1% spending fee, waived until September 30, 2026, no crypto conversion fee, and no MEXC markup on the Visa exchange rate.
Visa's own rate typically carries a 0.1%–0.3% spread, applied by Visa rather than by MEXC.
MEXC's worked example puts a 100 EUR purchase at an assumed Visa rate of 1.08, or 108 USD, with the 1% fee adding 1.08 USD for a total of 109.08 USDT, and 108.00 USDT while that fee is waived.
If you want the full picture, every MEXC Card fee line is broken down separately.

Refunds: How Long They Take and What They Cost

Refunds generally arrive within 1–7 days.
E-commerce, airline, hotel and travel-related refunds are the exception, and those can take up to 30 days to process.
What a refund costs comes down to one question: had the original purchase settled before the refund was issued?
If it had not settled, no fee is charged.
If it had settled, the MEXC Global Card applies no refund fee, as of September 2026.
The money is returned to your card, and how soon you see it depends on the merchant, since nothing returns before the merchant sends it.

What Happens to Cashback After a Refund or Reversal

Cashback is calculated only after a transaction settles, so an authorized-but-unsettled purchase has not qualified for anything yet.
Refunded, reversed and disputed transactions do not count toward your monthly total.
Where cashback has already been credited for one of them, the corresponding amount is deducted.
Two other things stop a settled purchase from qualifying, starting with a merchant category code on the list of merchant categories excluded from cashback.
The second is a risk-control flag on the account or the transaction, and Customer Service is the only route there.
Rates, tiers and monthly caps are covered in how MEXC Card cashback is calculated.

How to Dispute a MEXC Card Transaction

MEXC's published process runs in four steps, and skipping the first is the most common reason a case stalls.
  • Step 1: Contact the merchant and try to resolve it directly.
  • Step 2: If the merchant cannot resolve it, locate the transaction under Transaction History.
  • Step 3: Contact MEXC Customer Service with the reason for the dispute and your supporting documents, such as correspondence with the merchant, order records, or proof of refund.
  • Step 4: MEXC begins its review after you submit.
Many people search for this as a chargeback, though the term MEXC publishes is dispute.

Dispute Deadlines

Disputes generally must be filed within 60–120 days of the transaction, and the specific windows are tighter than that range suggests.
  • Duplicate charges: within 90 days.
  • Suspected fraudulent transactions: within 120 days.
  • Goods not received or not as described: within 120 days of the expected or actual delivery date.
Requests submitted after the applicable deadline cannot be accepted, so filing early is the only real protection.

If the Dispute Is Rejected

Where a dispute is rejected because the information was incomplete or the evidence insufficient, MEXC may charge a review fee.
The amount comes from the fee schedule for your card product rather than a single published figure, so send complete documentation the first time.

When It Is Not a Refund Case: Declines and Failed Authorizations

A declined payment is not a refund situation at all, because no money ever moved.
MEXC lists five common causes.
  • Insufficient balance or available credit.
  • A frozen or restricted card.
  • An unsupported merchant category.
  • Risk-control restrictions.
  • Temporary network or merchant issues.
Check your balance and card status before anything else.
If the decline appeared on the merchant's payment page and no matching record exists in your MEXC transaction history, the transaction was rejected on the merchant's side, and MEXC cannot access the reason for it.
Try another payment method, ask the merchant, or attempt the transaction again.
What you should not do is keep hitting retry, because consecutive failed transactions trigger MEXC's risk review and may result in automatic card termination.
Repeated failures on the Global Card can also carry a fee of USD 0.50 for each failed transaction.
If the balance is the problem, topping up and using the MEXC Card covers the funding side.

Unrecognised Charge? Freeze the Card First

Stop the bleeding before you investigate.
MEXC's published instruction for a card that is lost, damaged or stolen is to open the My MEXC Card page, select More, and click Freeze Your Card.
That same control blocks further charges on a card you no longer trust.
Then contact Customer Service.
With the card frozen, work through the dispute process above, keeping the 120-day fraud window in mind.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How long does a MEXC Card refund take?
A: Refunds generally arrive within 1–7 days, though e-commerce, airline, hotel and travel-related refunds can take up to 30 days.

Q: Why is my pending MEXC Card transaction not clearing?
A: It is still in the authorization stage, and settlement usually takes 1–3 business days. If the authorization failed, was reversed or expired, the hold is released automatically within roughly the same window.

Q: Why do I see two transactions for one purchase?
A: When the settlement exchange rate differs from the rate estimated at authorization, an additional record may be created for the difference alone, and MEXC plans to address this display gradually in future updates.

Q: Why was I charged more than the price shown at checkout?
A: The checkout figure uses an estimated exchange rate while the final amount uses the settlement rate, and cross-border fees or a merchant-added service charge or tip can raise it further.

Q: Is there a fee for refunds on the MEXC Card?
A: No fee applies to a refund issued before settlement, and as of September 2026 the MEXC Global Card applies no refund fee after settlement either.

Q: Do I lose cashback if a purchase is refunded?
A: Yes, refunded and reversed transactions do not count toward your monthly cashback total, and any cashback already credited for them is deducted.

Q: How do I dispute a MEXC Card charge, and what is the deadline?
A: Contact the merchant first, then locate the transaction under Transaction History and submit your reason and evidence to MEXC Customer Service, generally within 60–120 days, or 90 days for duplicate charges and 120 days for suspected fraud.

Q: My payment was declined but nothing shows in my MEXC history, what happened?
A: The transaction was rejected on the merchant's side, so MEXC cannot access the reason. Try another payment method, contact the merchant, or attempt it again.

Q: Do these rules also apply to the MEXC Card (APAC)?
A: The same two-stage process and dispute rules apply, and after settlement the MEXC Card (APAC) applies a 1% foreign exchange fee to refunds of non-USD transactions.

Conclusion

If a charge is pending, wait out the 1–3 business days before doing anything, because holds release on their own.
If the amount is wrong, check it against the settlement rate and look for a second record covering the difference.
If a refund is late, count from the merchant's confirmation and give travel categories the full 30 days.
If the charge is not yours, freeze the card, then file the dispute inside the 120-day window with your documents already attached.
The process is slower than most people expect, but very little of it asks you to do anything beyond waiting.
Note: Card features, fees, and benefits are subject to change; always check the official MEXC Card page for the latest terms.
