Anaconda, an action comedy starring Jack Black and Paul Rudd, is reportedly coming soon to digital streaming. Find out when and where you can watch the movie at home.

Directed by Tom Gormican, Anaconda opened in theaters nationwide on Dec. 25, 2025. The movie’s official summary reads, “THIS IS NOT A REBOOT. It is an entirely original comedy, inspired by the cinematic ‘classic’ Anaconda, that features Doug (Jack Black) and Griff (Paul Rudd), who have been best friends since they were kids and always dreamed of remaking their all-time favorite movie.

“When a midlife crisis pushes them to finally go for it, they head deep into the Amazon to start filming. But things get real when an actual giant anaconda appears, turning their comically chaotic movie set into a deadly situation. The movie they’re dying to make? It might just get them killed …”

Anaconda also stars Steve Zahn, Daniela Melchior, Selton Mello and Thandiwe Newton.

Anaconda will be released on digital streaming via premium video on demand on Tuesday, Jan. 27, according to When to Stream. While it is typically accurate with its PVOD reports, When to Stream noted that Sony Pictures Entertainment has not announced or confirmed the digital release date of Anaconda and it is subject to change.

Since digital rentals are typically $5 less than purchase prices, viewers can expect to rent Anaconda for 48 hours for $19.99.

The RT Critics Consensus for the movie reads, “The premise might be ripe for a raucous action-comedy, but this meta reboot of Anaconda can’t detach its jaws wide enough to swallow so many conflicting tones.”

However, Anaconda found a better reception on audiences on RT, who collectively gave the film a 76% “fresh” Popcornmeter score based on 1,000-plus verified user ratings. The RT audience summary for the movie reads, “Anaconda is a worthwhile expedition thanks to the buoyant charisma of Black, Rudd, and Zahn, who make this a meta comedy as delightfully ridiculous as it is tongue-in-snake.”

Rated PG-13, Anaconda will reportedly be released on PVOD on Jan. 27.

The post Cashing In On University Patents Means Giving Up On Our Innovation Future appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. “It’s a raid on American innovation that would deliver pennies to the Treasury while kneecapping the very engine of our economic and medical progress,” writes Pipes. Getty Images Washington is addicted to taxing success. Now, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick is floating a plan to skim half the patent earnings from inventions developed at universities with federal funding. It’s being sold as a way to shore up programs like Social Security. In reality, it’s a raid on American innovation that would deliver pennies to the Treasury while kneecapping the very engine of our economic and medical progress. Yes, taxpayer dollars support early-stage research. But the real payoff comes later—in the jobs created, cures discovered, and industries launched when universities and private industry turn those discoveries into real products. By comparison, the sums at stake in patent licensing are trivial. Universities collectively earn only about $3.6 billion annually in patent income—less than the federal government spends on Social Security in a single day. Even confiscating half would barely register against a $6 trillion federal budget. And yet the damage from such a policy would be anything but trivial. The true return on taxpayer investment isn’t in licensing checks sent to Washington, but in the downstream economic activity that federally supported research unleashes. Thanks to the bipartisan Bayh-Dole Act of 1980, universities and private industry have powerful incentives to translate early-stage discoveries into real-world products. Before Bayh-Dole, the government hoarded patents from federally funded research, and fewer than 5% were ever licensed. Once universities could own and license their own inventions, innovation exploded. The result has been one of the best returns on investment in government history. Since 1996, university research has added nearly $2 trillion to U.S. industrial output, supported 6.5 million jobs, and launched more than 19,000 startups. Those companies pay…
